Good news for the students. University of Delhi is planning a four-year course that will focus on innovation and hands-on learning through industry-based projects. It is a degree in Mathematics and information and communication technology and will be interdisciplinary as well.
The curriculum has been developed and the modalities of admission and faculty are being worked out. A senior DU official said that the four-year programme will encourage students to take up innovations in diverse areas. The Course will train them to go into research, engineering, electronics and computer science. There will be lots of projects connected with industry. He further added that there is a talk of encouraging hands-on learning by installing various prototypes on campus. The university is thinking of even putting up a Nano car so that students can work on it to understand its engineering and explore new ideas. Similarly, they can work with mobile phones to learn their technology.
If the course gets cleared, it will flag off the “innovation cluster” being planned by DU. Besides running this course, the cluster will also create awareness on the importance of innovation.
